Expectations of Pre-Schools and Common Questions
Expectations JHCCH has of partner pre-schools
- Funds be used for hands on educational toys, supplies and resources
- Pre-schools show a commitment to raising funds on their own
through out the year (bake sales, car wash, arts and crafts etc.)
- Pre-schools actively participate in the Old Billʼs fundraising process
- Pre-schools submit their paperwork on time and alert JHCCH
ahead of time if a deadline can not be met
- Partner pre-schools must be non-denominational
Is there an upper limit of how much will be granted for a single project?
- 100% of the money a preschool raises through Old Billʼs will go to
that preschool. The school may use the funds toward one project
or multiple projects as long as funds are approved by JHCCH.
- Up to $500 per year may be applied for from the general fund
Is there a limit to how many times funds can be requested for the same
project/item year after year?
- No, however funds that are denied may not be applied for again.
What is the general fund?
- The general fund is a group of donations that can be granted to any
of the qualified pre-schools. Anyone may donate to the general
fund and any partner pre-school may apply for the funds to
supplement their Old Billʼs funds.
Can a partner pre-school apply for funds from the general fund separately
from Old Billʼs? For example can a pre-school apply in January for a
project to be funded by the general fund?
- Yes, up to $500 per year may be applied for from the general fund.
Is there a limit to how many years a pre-school can apply for grants?
- No, as long as their eligibility is still met (licensed with the state, up
to date on training hours etc.)
Examples of what will be granted
- Science curriculum, workbooks, art supplies, educational toys,
music classes, physical education, manipulatives
Examples of what will not be granted
- Improvements to the physical building (paint, carpet, bookshelves,
fence, etc...), additional education for teachers, substitute teachers,
staff wages, insurance, office supplies
How detailed should the grant application be?
- The grant application should be detailed enough so that that board
has an understanding of what the pre-school wants to purchase
and how it will benefit the children. Please be concise, short,
simple, clear and to the point. Requested items should also be
itemized and priced out.
